Peter McKinley, MLIS

Peter is a consultant, a researcher, and in May, 2004 introduced a pioneering graduate-level Prospect Research course in the Masters of Library and Information Science program at the University of Western Ontario. Currently, he works with a number of non-profit and private sector organizations of varying size and scope, providing research, training and mentoring services as well as operational and strategic counsel.

In addition to consulting and teaching, Peter makes presentations to various professional associations, and conducts workshops for non-profit organizations. Peter leads workshops in London, Ontario, in conjunction with the London Public Library; and has spoken in Sudbury, Ontario at the College Committee for Advancement Conference and the APRA International Conference in San Diego, California.

As Director of Alumni Intelligence at the Richard Ivey School of Business, Peter served in a number of critical strategic and knowledge management roles, building the prospect pool from the ground up, and playing a key role in the successful completion of the $78 Million Ivey campaign, which was the largest single faculty campaign in Canadian history. Peter was a contributor to and editorial board member for Ivey’s In Touch, an award-winning alumni magazine and he also led a school-wide effort at Ivey to redevelop the external website as a primary communication channel with stakeholders.

Peter has a BA (Honours History) and a Masters of Library and Information Science, both from the University of Western Ontario, and has completed the Finance for non-Financial Managers executive program at the Ivey Business School, and the Applied Research Methods program of the American Marketing Association.
